Some pictures

Here are some pictures I took tonight while Finley was in the bath. Such a darling sweet thing. I'm so thankful he is a happy healthy boy after all we went through ante-nataley (for those of you who don't know, we were only given a 5% chance of having a normal baby after a very high nuchal fold measurement at 12 weeks) but I do think we have failed him head shape wise. I don't think its improved that much at all.

Excuse the snot - what a cherub!!

Hi Sarah. I don't know if you will see this comment, some 3 1/2 years later, but I have been reading through Finley's journey because I suspect my son has brachycephaly (self diagnosed so far) and I am just beginning to do my research.

What has prompted me to write you is that my son had a large septated cystic hygroma (high nuchal fold) that was found at 10 weeks gestation. Was your son's high nuchal fold measurement deemed a "cystic hygroma" as well? We were given the same grim statistics you cite...5% chance of having a normal child, and we were also told only 12% chance of live birth. We feel blessed that our son is so healthy and happy, but we are feeling conflicting emotions when we worry (obsessively) about the brachy, which by comparison is so minor. It's as if we are constantly waiting for the other shoe to drop and for one of those syndromes or developmental problems the perinatologist warned us about to pop up. I guess I was wondering whether you ever ran across anything in the literature that suggested any relation between the high nuchal fold measurement and the brachy? How is Finley today? He looks like such a sweet little lamb! Thank you for this blog and for sharing your insight!

Hi . I read your post about finley because I suspect my son is a brachy too. He is 10 months old now . I didnt know about brachy until I was searching about a nony bump above the ears. Mu baby has somewhat a bony lump above his ears . Its not like what a cyst would feel like coz everytime I feel it , it feels like it is part of his skull but protruding. And I seaeched for pictures and saw some brachy babies and realized their head shape is somewhat similar to my boy. I just wanna ask you do u feel a bony bump above your baby's ears? The last picture of finley in a side view seems there is a bulge above his ear.(not sure though) but quite similar to my son.

Thank you so much in sharing your child's journey. I hope you can reply. God bless you
